Health and Safety Manager

We provide bespoke, full-circle recycling and waste management solutions, to both small and large commercial clients as well as regional, local and national charities. We are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join our busy team.


About the role

Here at the CTR Group we take Health and Safety very seriously, and this role sits at the heart of our approach.  Taking overall control and accountability for the health and safety of all of our associates and sites, this role is charged with ensuring that the CTR Group delivers a safe and healthy working environment.



What will you be doing?

Reporting directly into the Managing Director of CTR Group, and based out of the Staffordshire Headquarters, this role will co-ordinate, support and advise the Business on all aspects of Health and Safety across all three main sites, establishing (where required) and then managing and monitoring all Health and Safety standards, systems and processes to ensure full compliance and best practice across the business. 


The role has the following specific responsibilities:

  •  Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations and systems of work are communicated adhered to and are regularly reviewed and updated as required, delivering a safe workplace environment without risk to health for all staff and visitors

  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.

  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments, PPE, and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are fully aware of their responsibilities.

  • Develop, deliver and administer key induction and ongoing training programmes for all staff across all areas of the business, and establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.

  • Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained. Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.

  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.

  • Provide regular reports to Senior Management Team on relevant health and safety activities, and work alongside Business Unit managers to ensure compliance and best practice across the Group.

  • Liaise with suppliers and other key external stakeholders (for example insurers, solicitors, inspectors etc.) and fully participate in any and all meetings as required to report and advise on relevant health & safety matters.

  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.


Essential Skills/Qualifications

  • Will be NEBOSH qualified

  • Have experience of working with regulators such as the HSE

  • Will have an excellent working knowledge of all aspects of Health and Safety, ideally across a multi-site environment.

  • Will lead by example, championing a positive health and safety culture across the Group and modelling best practice behaviours and attitudes.

  • Will have a solution-oriented and collaborative working style and is able to engage and influence across the wide range of associates within the Group.

  • Will be an active and outgoing individual who wants to make a real difference across the CTR Group and who enjoys the breadth and depth of work that this role requires.

  • Will thrive in a hands-on and challenging environment and will bring a positive approach and capability to the role.

  • Will be highly organised, with a strong attention to detail and strong time management and prioritisation skills Will be confident, organised and happy to travel to the main Group sites in Dartford and Corby on a regular basis.

  • Have experience and knowledge of online system

  • Hold a full UK driving license
